Onsite Communications Provide PA and Two-way Radios for British Masters

One of the first main events in this years European Tour calendar was the BetFred sponsored British Masters tournament held at Hill Side Golf Club in Southport

The British Masters was always a prestigeous tournament on the European Tour schedule from its inception in 1946 up until 2008. Throughout the 1980s, the world’s very best golfers would travel far and wide to battle it out, with favourites such as Seve Ballesteros, Lee Trevino, and Bernhard Langer succeeding on some of Britain’s finest courses. Local heroes also commanded centre stage with the likes of Sandy Lyle and Ian Woosnam lifting the Masters trophy in the past.

In 2008, attempts to find a sponsor of the event were unsuccessful and the British Masters was removed from the European Tour schedule. But, backed by Sky Sports, the event made an ambitious return to Woburn in 2015 hosted by Ian Poulter.

Now back on the European Tour calandar, the event now follows a similar format to other popular tournaments, with a fun ‘Hero Challenge’ on the Tuesday night under the lights, complemented by music, pyrotechnics and a big-name host, with Tommy Fleetwood taking the reins in 2019.

With record attendance at Close House in 2017 and an impressive field at both Walton Heath and Hillside in 2018 and 2019, this year’s British Masters is geared up to be the best yet and as always, Onsite Communications are there to ensure that the event communication are in place. Public Address systems are installed and digital two-way radios systems with managed radio channelplans are provide for ground staff and tournament officials.
